Manchester United have made a clear call on Rasmus Hojlund as Napoli plan a move to slash his transfer valuation ahead of the summer window. Napoli move guaranteed Hojlund has enjoyed an upturn in form and fortunes since he joined Napoli last summer on a season-long loan from United. The Dane struggled for impact at Old Trafford and following the signings of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, it became increasingly clear that he no longer had a future in England. He has managed nine goals and two assists in nine Serie A appearances. Across all competitions, the forward has plundered 13 goals and four assists. Napoli have an obligation to make his move permanent for €44m, but only if they secure Champions League qualification. They currently sit third in the table, five points clear of Como, so that condition looks increasingly likely to be met. A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United expect Hojlund and Marcus Rashford to no longer be at the club from next season. Tuttomercato have given an update on Hojlund’s situation. The news outlet claims that Napoli have already decided to keep Hojlund, who has been described to have great potential, but they will look to negotiate a reduction on his €44m fee with the Red Devils. Hojlund transfer update Tuttomercato say that “there is no doubt” about Hojlund permanently joining Napoli as Antonio Conte’s side have “already made up their minds.” Hojlund is considered the “perfect striker” for Napoli. The United loanee is seen as someone who could fit any system under any manager. The report adds, “Everything has already been settled and finalised. Napoli will clearly try to shave off the €44 million agreed with Manchester United in the summer.” “But the Red Devils don’t appear to be willing to offer discounts for any early signings. This will be the price of Hojlund’s buyout, especially since the obligation to buy will kick in if they qualify.” It’s understood that Hojlund will be given a contract that runs until 2030. An €85m release clause will be inserted into his terms and it will be available for foreign teams to trigger. Featured image Marco M.
