Senne Lammens has firmly established himself as Manchester United’s number one. The former Royal Antwerp goalkeeper had only played one full season at top-flight level before moving to United. As such, there were doubts about whether he would be a good fit for the Red Devils, given how Champions League finalist Andre Onana crumbled under pressure. However, ever since his debut in October, Lammens has demonstrated an immense level of composure and box dominance. Under Michael Carrick, the Belgian has kept three clean sheets in seven Premier League games. Tony Coton convinced Manchester United to sign Senne Lammens Former Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim wanted Aston Villa and Argentina star Emiliano Martinez. However, the club’s goalkeeping scout Tony Coton pushed for the signing of Senne Lammens, having closely monitored the 23-year-old over the past 18 months. Ultimately, INEOS overruled Amorim and decided to place their trust in Coton’s judgement. Now, the Red Devils are facing a battle to keep hold of their influential scout. Bayer Leverkusen interested in Tony Coton According to Football Insider, chief goalkeeping scout Tony Coton is on the radar of several European clubs. Bayer Leverkusen, Wolfsburg and Como are thought to be among the clubs keen on adding the experienced figure to their recruitment teams. The 64-year-old, who made 500 appearances in the Football League and Premier League as a goalkeeper, is highly rated in recruitment circles. Before joining United’s setup in 2020, Coton also had encouraging stints at Aston Villa and Sunderland. It is believed he also played a key role in the signings of Edwin van der Sar, Tim Howard and Ben Foster during his time as United’s goalkeeping coach. Leverkusen want to “lure him away from English football” as the Bundesliga giants believe “his experience and expertise could be vital.” Featured image Alex Livesey via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
