“A setback I haven’t faced before”: United defender delivers heart-breaking message after cruel twist of fate

Manchester United youngster Harry Amass has sent a message, vowing to do everything possible to return to action swiftly after he sustained an injury just a week into his loan spell with Norwich City. Amass injured Amass sealed a loan switch to Norwich during the winter window following a successful stint at Sheffield Wednesday. Despite Wednesday’s woes on and off the pitch, Amass achieved a level of consistency, which saw him nail down a regular starting berth under Henrik Pedersen. United covered the full costs of Amass’ loan transfer, including his wages. As with all United loanees, United inserted a break clause which could be activated in January. The club exercised this option despite Wednesday’s best attempts to keep him at Hillsborough. There was plenty of interest in the England youth international but Norwich won the race for his signature. Amass made his debut for the Canaries in the impressive win over Coventry City. However, he was unable to build on this as he sustained an injury in training, which Norwich boss Philippe Clement described as “serious.” A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Amass faces a potential recall to United to undergo treatment on the hamstring issue. The 18-year-old took to Instagram and expressed his devastation at the setback, although he promised to do everything he could to return as soon as possible. Amass’ message Amass wrote, “I’m gutted to have picked up an injury in training.” “Obviously this is not how I wanted my time at Norwich to start. However, I am determined to get back on the pitch as soon as possible.” “This is a setback I haven’t faced before, but I’m in a good mindset with good people around me to come back stronger.” Several of Amass’ United academy teammates – including Reece Munro, Amir Ibragimov, Tyler Fredricson, Shea Lacey, Jack Fletcher and Jaydan Kamason –  reacted to the post in a show of support. Meanwhile, Michael Carrick and his players are next in action on Saturday when they face Tottenham Hotspur in the early kick-off.
