Manchester United have reportedly reached a decision on the futures of Joe Hugill and Habeeb Ogunneye after recalling them from their respective loan spells. United recall Hugill and Ogunneye United loaned out Hugill and Ogunneye to Barnet and Newport County respectively during the summer transfer window in an effort to secure the pair regular first-team minutes. However, their loan tenures did not pan out as expected prompting United to bring them back. Hugill started in Barnet’s opening two games of the campaign against Fleetwood Town and Bromley before he picked up an injury that kept him sidelined for three months. The striker found playing time extremely hard to come by once he returned to action. Meanwhile, Ogunneye featured prominently under Dave Hughes before his dismissal. Hughes knew Ogunneye well from working together while he was part of the coaching set-up in United’s academy. Hughes’ successor at Rodney Parade, Christian Fuchs, failed to find a place in his plans for Ogunneye. The defender’s role in the team diminished significantly. Ogunneye managed 15 League Two appearances for Newport, scoring one goal in that period. The 20-year-old trained with the first team in Michael Carrick’s first Carrington session as interim head coach. According to the Manchester Evening News, United plan to send Hugill and Ogunneye out on loan for the remainder of the season. United make Hugill and Ogunneye decision The newspaper says that United will allow Hugill and Ogunneye to secure new six-month loans, but their destinations are yet to be confirmed. Hugill in particular is facing a dilemma. MEN note about the forward, “United are set to send Hugill, 22, on loan for the second half of the campaign, but his contract at Old Trafford expires in the summer.” “United have the option of triggering a 12-month extension, but Hugill is preparing to arrive at a crossroads in his career and his future is unclear.” Meanwhile, the Red Devils are next in action on Saturday when they host Manchester City in the derby.
