BACK David Tully Dec 29th 2025 Man Utd are holding talks to secure the signature of Auxerre forward Lassine Sinayoko, according to reports. The Malian international is currently playing for his country at the African Cup of Nations. However, Sinayoko has also been in decent form for Auxerre this season, having found the back of the net 6 times in 16 appearances. Africa Foot claim that “serious negotiations” are underway between the Red Devils and the player’s entourage. It is believed that progress towards a “final agreement” is being made, with a contract offer worth €3m a year or £50,000 a week being discussed. What do fans need to know about Sinayoko? Despite being born in Mali and playing for them at international level, the 26-year-old started out his career in France, making his way up the ranks of Auxerre’s academy. Sinayoko made his first-team debut against Chamois Niortais in April 2021, and he has gone on to make 159 appearances. He got his first goal against Valenciennes in November 2021. The forward can play right across the front three, having started just as many games on the right wing as he has through the middle. Man Utd are looking to replace Zirkzee Joshua Zirkzee is keen on leaving Old Trafford during the January transfer window in order to get first-team football. The likes of Roma and West Ham are said to be interested. If the Dutchman is offloaded, a replacement will need to be brought in, and it appears Sinayoko is among the candidates. Head coach Ruben Amorim has revealed that the Red Devils do have money to spend, but he hinted that the bulk of the transfer funds could be held back until the summer, so cheaper deals may only be considered in January.
