BACK David Tully Dec 11th 2025 Man Utd wingback Diego Leon is unlikely to be loaned out by the Red Devils next month, according to his agent. The Paraguayan’s representative Renato Bittar was responding to reports linking his client with a switch to Ligue One side Nice when he said that “it wouldn’t be good” for the player to move teams midway through the season: “They did a ‘One with arrow’, about his move to Nice, the truth is that he is living exactly what we planned.” “We are not clear if he will go out on loan now, it wouldn’t be good to cut his season short. He is evolving, adding minutes in the Under-21, and that is positive.” Leon is learning his trade in the academy The 18-year-old arrived from Cerro Porteno in July, but he has yet to make his competitive debut for Man Utd’s first team. Leon did feature in pre-season for Ruben Amorim’s side but he has only been an unused substitute in three Premier League games and one Carabao Cup tie so far. Even so, the teenager has faced senior opponents this season, having played for the Under 21s in the EFL Trophy against Barnsley and Notts County. As Bittar mentions, it appears the plan has been to keep him with the Under-21s until he is ready to make the step up. When could Leon make his 1st senior appearance for Man Utd? The FA Cup third round tie against Brighton on January 10th has likely been pencilled in as a game where the youngster could get some minutes. With no European football this season, it is hard to see Leon getting many opportunities other than in that competition, especially after the Red Devils were dumped out of the Carabao Cup unceremoniously by Grimsby Town back in August.
