United ready to trigger release clause of 29-yo star who would be a huge upgrade on Amorim’s summer signing – report

Manchester United are stepping up their attempts to strengthen their striker options, as Benjamin Sesko’s injury has exacerbated an already problem area for Ruben Amorim.  United brought in Sesko from RB Leipzig to replace the underperforming Rasmus Hojlund over the summer. The relatively inexperienced Slovenian lacks the killer instinct, but he has still improved the side’s attack with his clean and strong hold-up play. In his absence, Amorim handed Joshua Zirkzee his first start of the season, and the Dutchman’s uninspiring performance explained why the United head coach waited so long. Manchester United keen on Serhou Guirassy Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are in contact with Serhou Guirassy‘s entourage. The Borussia Dortmund talisman is enjoying a prolific campaign, having been directly involved in 13 goals across all competitions.  The 29-year-old is a lethal goal machine, who efficiently blends his massive frame (6ft 2in) and relentless work rate to get the better of Bundesliga defenders.  Guirassy is tied to Signal Iduna Park until 2028. However, it has been widely reported that his contract at Dortmund includes a special release clause, valid only for United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea.  Man United willing to activate Guirassy’s release clause According to Fichajes, Guirassy has become a “priority target” for United and Chelsea. It is understood both Premier League giants are prepared to trigger the €50m release clause in his contract at Dortmund. The Spanish outlet add that Guirassy is open to moving to the Premier League. His desire is reportedly expected to “intensify” the battle for his signature heading into the winter transfer window. Guirassy is a player with a proven pedigree in front of goal. As such, his arrival may push Sesko to the bench and Zirkzee out of the club.
