Manchester United’s defeat to Everton proved once again that Ruben Amorim lacks quality out wide. With Benjamin Sesko, and Matheus Cunha unavailable for the clash, the head coach picked Amad on the left of the front three, which meant Noussair Mazraoui came in as the right wingback. On the left, Patrick Dorgu got a rare start, and safe to say, the first half was a disaster. Amorim was forced to shuffle his pack, with Amad sent back to the right wingback position while Diogo Dalot replaced Dorgu on the left. The Ivorian was among the few players who at least tried, while Dalot put in yet another shambolic performance. With Amad set to depart for AFCON, Amorim needs quality in January. Antoine Semenyo, the next Amad The Red Devils are looking at wingbacks, and as per Teamtalk, Antoine Semenyo is seen as the perfect fit, owing to his versatility. INEOS see him as an Amad-type of player, someone who can influence things up top while having the energy and determination to do a diligent job defensively. “Manchester United are expected to search for another Amad Diallo-type player in the January transfer window, sources have told TEAMtalk, as the Red Devils look to strengthen their attacking depth. “The Man Utd coaching staff want the flexibility to use Diallo as a No.10 on occasion, which heightens the need for additional wide options and greater tactical versatility. United must not delay if they are to win the race “There is a growing feeling among sources that Man Utd are seeking more players capable of carrying the ball and playing on the front foot. Antoine Semenyo is among the players under consideration at Man Utd. “Man Utd appreciate Semenyo’s versatility and believe he could operate in multiple roles – including as a wing-back – making him an appealing target if they move forward with plans for a January addition.” The Ghanaian would be much better served playing up top as one of the attacking midfielders, but he has played as a wingback in the past and Bournemouth could be forced to sell due to his release clause. Antoine Semenyo can be acquired for £65 million in the early stages of January but with Amorim demanding a midfielder, it will be interesting to see what INEOS ultimately decide.
