United star edges stiff competition to be named player of the match in heroic effort vs Spurs by fans

Manchester United escaped the Tottenham Hotspur stadium with a 2-2 draw on Saturday afternoon. The Red Devils led for most of the match but conceded two late goals that looked to have cost them the game. Nonetheless, Matthijs de Ligt rose highest at a corner in injury time to grab a much-deserved draw. De Ligt The Peoples Person held a poll to see who fans felt was the player of the match and the big Dutchman came out on top. 33% of fans voted for the centre back who has been in fine form this season. According to the club’s official website, 40% fans also agreed that the former Bayern Munich defender was indeed the side’s top performer on the day. Bryan Mbeumo The Cameroonian has consistently been one of the top performers this season for United and this was once again the case. Mbeumo nodded in United’s opener in the first half, showing off his clinical finishing. It was his sixth goal of the season and enough for 29% of United fans to vote for him as the player of the match. Senne Lammens Fellow summer signing Lammens has also been impressive lately and he made a couple of fantastic saves to keep Spurs at bay earlier on in the second half. Unfortunately, he could do little to stop either of the home side’s goals but United fans were certainly pleaded with what they witnessed as 19% of fans felt he was the best player. Amad The Ivorian started the season slowly but has been growing in importance over the last month. He scored a world-class equaliser versus Nottingham Forest and provided a sumptuous assist for Mbeumo’s goal. 18% fans felt that Amad was the best player in a United shirt. Best of the rest Patrick Dorgu and Bruno Fernandes made up the remaining 1% of the vote.
