Man United are reportedly interested in signing Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney in January.
The Red Devils are looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League after they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Brentford in their last game at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Ruben Amorim is under considerable pressure at Old Trafford, with reports suggesting that the United board have drawn up a shortlist of managers to replace him, including former England manager Gareth Southgate.
United face a game against Sunderland this weekend, with the Black Cats sitting fifth in the league table, Amorim will be hoping for a better showing. The Red Devils have struggled in midfield this season, and so he will be looking to add more talent in the middle of the park in the January transfer window.
Man United, Spurs and Fulham want to sign Hayden Hackney
Amid the Red Devils’ desire to add more talent in midfield, they have been linked to signing Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney in the January transfer window.
According to a report by TeamTalk, Tottenham and Fulham are set to battle United for the 23-year-old’s signature, and could spark a bidding war for the English star.
So far this season, Hackney has made eight Championship appearances for Boro, scoring one goal and providing two assists, backing up a great season last year where he netted five goals and provided three assists in 44 games for Michael Carrick’s side. This season, he has continued his good form under new manager Rob Edwards, and it is no surprise that he is attracting attention from Premier League clubs.
Edwards is very keen on Hackney, and has praised him a lot since joining at the Riverside Stadium, he said in a recent interview with the Yorkshire Post: “You can see it out there that he loves the club and he’s been extremely professional, so I couldn’t be happier with him.”
