United star issues bombshell ultimatum to Ineos, will leave if Amorim is not sacked – report

Kobbie Mainoo continues to struggle under Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.

Amorim finds himself under immense pressure heading into the clash against newly-promoted Sunderland, who sit eight places above United in the Premier League after six games.

Ineos revamped United’s attack by spending nearly £200m on Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko. However, the Red Devils’ struggles from last season are still evident.

Still, Amorim continues to vehemently defend his system that has failed to get the best out of his squad. Mainoo, in particular, has suffered the most since the Portuguese’s arrival in November of last year.

Mainoo falls down the pecking order under Amorim

The United academy product established himself as a starter under Erik ten Hag, and on the back of several promising performances, the dynamic midfielder also became a regular feature for the Three Lions.

However, the 20-year-old’s playing time has drastically declined under Amorim, who wants him to compete with the ever-present Bruno Fernandes for a spot in the middle of the park.

Mainoo requested to leave his boyhood club on loan in the summer, but United refused to entertain any talks regarding his exit.

However, the Englishman’s current deal at Old Trafford runs until 2027, meaning United may not have the same level of control over his future down the road.

The club’s hierarchy are adamant to keep hold of their prodigious talent, but Mainoo has yet to commit his long-term future to the Mancunians.

Mainoo wants United to sack Amorim

According to Fichajes, Mainoo doesn’t have confidence in United’s current project and has informed the board that he will not extend his stay if Amorim remains at the helm.

The England international is reportedly demanding a change in management.

The situation has sparked interest from clubs in Spain and Germany, with many sides willing to make a move for him in the summer.

As things stand, Sir Jim Ratcliffe continues to back Amorim, and believes the ex-Sporting CP man has the ability to steady the ship in Manchester. However, the Daily Mail report that a number of players have lost faith in their head coach to turn things around.
