United Women star leaves competition in her dust with jaw-dropping statistics

Manchester United Women have had numerous top performers so far this season after a wonderful start to the campaign.

Three victories and a draw see the side fighting at the top of the table and they have already secured their passage to the group stage of the Champions League for the first time in their history.

Phallon Tullis-Joyce on fire

The American keeper was tasked with filling the rather large gloves of Mary Earps last season but passed with flying colours.

She was nominated for PFA Womens’ Players’ Player of the Year and was also voted in the WSL Team of the Season.

The American was rewarded with a new contract at the back end of last season.

She was also handed her first appearances for the United States national team as a reward for her fine efforts between the posts.

Picked up where she left off

Tullis-Joyce has picked up where she left off last season with a string of stunning performances this season.

The American has kept six clean sheets in eight domestic and European matches this season and doesn’t seem in the mood to slow down.

The club’s official website reports that, “nobody has kept as many clean sheets in the top division since 21 September 2024, when Phallon made her WSL bow.”

In the 26 matches she has played in the league, there have been an amazing 16 clean sheets. “Only Manchester City (twice), Arsenal and Liverpool have scored past Phallon more than once in a game during that spell.”

In addition, “Phallon has saved 80% of the on-target shots she’s faced in the WSL, again placing her clear of Hampton (79%) and Arsenal’s Daphne van Domselaar, who has a 75% save percentage and 11 clean sheets in this time frame.”

Her boss Marc Skinner has clearly been impressed and after her incredible acrobatic stop versus Arsenal recently he stated, “I’ve said it many times, we have the best goalkeeper.” The statistics certainly back up his assertions.

Tullis-Joyce will certainly need to be at her best this Friday evening when the champions Chelsea arrive to the Progress With Unity Stadium.

Alex is a huge Manchester United fan, inspired by greats of his homeland such as George Best, Harry Gregg and Norman Whiteside. Proud owner of such niche shirts such as Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Gary Neville. Grew up pretending to be Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the back garden, with little success.
