Former Manchester United winger Antony will be back in European action tonight for Real Betis.
United woes
The winger joined the Red Devils in 2022 for a mammoth figure of £85 million.
The Brazilian failed to ever really settle at the club, scoring just 12 goals in 96 appearances.
He struggled for game time in his third season last year and was quickly out of Ruben Amorim’s plans when he was loaned out to Real Betis in January.
The Brazilian sparkled in Spain, helping his side reach the Conference League final and finish in the European spots in La Liga.
Summer delay
Antony was part of the infamous “bomb squad” of players who were left out of first team training to help them secure a move away from Old Trafford with names such as Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho.
Antony always made his preference of a return to Seville known, despite interest from Bayern Munich.
After months of negotiations, he finally secured a late permanent deal back to Betis.
Giovani Lo Celso aims dig at United
Speaking to Spanish paper AS ahead of Real Betis’ Europa League tie versus Nottingham Forest, the former Tottenham attacker praised Antony.
He claimed, “I think his return is important for everyone.”
Commenting on the nature of the transfer he stated, “it wasn’t an easy summer for him. We know what English clubs are like; they don’t let you train. Every time he touches the ball, there’s a sense of danger. He’s direct and contagious.”
Antony has already revealed the difficulties he faced this summer and broke down in tears during his presentation as a Betis player.
