Manchester United have agreed on a fee with Napoli for Rasmus Hojlund’s exit.
The Athletic have revealed that the Dane will depart on an initial season-long loan, with a conditional obligation which would kick in should the Serie A champions qualify for the Champions League.
In addition to the fee, the Red Devils receive a loan fee once the signing is completed.
Interestingly, the deal remains in limbo as the Denmark international has yet to give his approval.
It has been established that the 22-year-old would love to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford, but he has not been a part of three matchday squads so far.
His minutes are likely to be dramatically reduced even if he stays, which is a possibility. Now the ball seems to be in the United No.9’s court.
“Manchester United have agreed a deal with Napoli for Rasmus Hojlund on a season loan, which includes a conditional obligation of €44million (£38m; $51.4m).
“The clause to sign permanently kicks in if Napoli qualify for the Champions League. United would in addition receive a loan fee on signing.
“But Hojlund, 22, is still to agree to the move. He has expressed his desire to stay at United and that remains a possibility. But has been left out of three matchday squads this campaign. The call on a transfer will now be his.”
