Alarm bells ringing at United as shock late deal on the cards after “positive” contacts, superstar is asking for £33m – report

There was uproar among fans when news emerged that Manchester United talisman Bruno Fernandes was the subject of an approach from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.

To their great relief, the club managed to keep hold of the Portuguese superstar. However, that has not stopped potential suitors from sniffing around.

Al-Nassr were the next Saudi club to be linked with a move, and even they were turned down by the 30-year-old.

Now, as per The Sun, Al-Ittihad are the latest club to try to sign the United captain, with a meeting also taking place between the club and the player recently.

Al-Ittihad latest to join Bruno race

The report mentions that the midfield maestro has asked for £33 million per year in wages from the SPL side, but there is no mention of a fee.

However, initial contacts between both parties has been described as positive. He is the second United superstar on the mega-rich club’s agenda after Casemiro.

“MANCHESTER UNITED captain Bruno Fernandes is being targeted by Al-Ittihad in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

“SunSport understand a meeting between the Saudi giants and Fernandes’ camp has already taken place. Al-Ittihad are very keen to add the Portugal international to their ranks.

“Fernandes, 30, turned down advances from Al-Hilal in June, but first contact between Al-Ittihad and the player is said to have been positive.

Interesting times lie ahead

“Sources have told SunSport Fernandes has asked the Saudi Pro League outfit for a contract worth a total of £33million per year.”

What this means for the Portugal international’s future is still not clear. In a recent interview, Bruno Fernandes has made it clear that he wanted to stay and be successful as part of Ruben Amorim’s new era.

Fernandes’ current deal is valid until 2027, and with the addition of Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo, the club have significantly strengthened up top.

INEOS are definitely planning for the post-Fernandes era, but hopefully, he will stay for a couple of more years, and in that time, he can add to the club’s trophy cabinet.
