“On his way out”: United set buy out price for Rasmus Hojlund as Serie A giants step up talks to clinch deal – report

Manchester United are one step closer to offloading Rasmus Hojlund this summer, according to a new report.

In what has already been a busy transfer window for Man United, the club has focused on boosting its attacking capabilities.

In addition to signing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, United have been hammering out a deal for Benjamin Sesko, who arrived in Manchester yesterday to seal the move.

With so many incoming forwards, United manager Ruben Amorim appears willing to part ways with several attackers as well, including struggler Rasmus Hojlund.

Hojlund’s days are numbered

Given his continued poor form, Hojlund has faced a barrage of criticism over the course of the past season.

This performance appears to have encouraged Amorim to part ways with the Dane, albeit on a temporary basis.

Soon after news of Sesko’s transfer, it was reported that United were working to offload Hojlund, with the player leaning towards a move to Italy, particularly either Napoli or AC Milan.

This morning, it appeared that Hojlund’s move away from Old Trafford is all but sealed, with his new suitor being revealed.

Deal in motion

This morning, Gianluca Di Marzio reported that United have agreed to loan Hojlund out to Milan with an option to buy.

La Gazzetta dello Sport expanded on this claim, providing further details on the prospective deal.

“An agreement with Manchester United is still being hammered out,” the report read. “Simply opening the deal isn’t enough; the figures will need to be discussed in the coming days, perhaps even weeks, hoping, among other things, that no (rich) competitors emerge. The least obvious is the value of the loan for the 2025-26 season. Right now, the Red Devils are aiming high. On the other hand, they want to work hard to refine the deal.”

“While there could be more flexibility regarding the buy-out option (the overall valuation is around €35 million), Milan wants to set strict limits on the money to be paid immediately to the English club,” the article continued.

Furthermore, the Italian publication added that United would be willing to cover Hojlund’s wages during his loan spell, thereby exhibiting their willingness to do what is necessary to get a deal over the line.

Clearly, some details still need to be finalised, including the exact amount of the loan deal and the price of the option to buy.

Still, this is an encouraging development, with United clearly steaming ahead in their summer squad revamp.
