Manchester United have all of a sudden found another gear in the transfer market.
After a slow start to the summer that saw United spend over a month negotiating with Brentford to sign Bryan Mbeumo, Ineos have accelerated their efforts to bolster Ruben Amorim’s squad before the start of the season.
Mbeumo became United’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Diego Leon and Matheus Cunha. Much of the groundwork for the Leon signing was done in January.
Following Mbeumo’s arrival, United were expected to focus on outgoings. However, Newcastle United’s interest in Benjamin Sesko accelerated the Red Devils’ transfer plans.
Manchester United closing in on Sesko signing
The Premier League giants quickly found a “total agreement” with Sesko, leaving Newcastle behind in the race for the Slovenian’s signature.
Following that development, United also submitted a formal bid worth €85m, including add-ons, to reach an agreement with Leipzig for their sought-after striker.
Earlier today, Sky Sport Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg claimed that Newcastle “still have representatives on site in Leipzig, ready to react in case Man United cannot reach an agreement with Leipzig.” However, the Mancunians remain in the driving seat due to the striker’s desire.
Now, journalist Ben Jacobs claims that an agreement in principle between United and Leipzig for Sesko’s transfer is “imminent.”

United appear confident of completing the deal, as they have also started exploring the possibility of signing a new midfielder.
Manchester United open to signing Baleba after Sesko
On Wednesday, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United have contacted Brighton & Hove Albion over a possible summer deal for Carlos Baleba.
The Cameroonian is understood to be United’s “dream” target for their midfielder. However, any deal for the Brighton star is expected to be complex, considering the club’s financial predicament.
Further, United have also opened talks with Chelsea to part ways with Alejandro Garnacho. A major sale at this stage of the window may help United push aggressively for the signature of Baleba.
