Sporting director overruled as club ready to stump up €48m for United star – report

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford’s exit from the club is gathering pace in spite of opposition at board level.

The forward fell out with manager Ruben Amorim last December and joined Aston Villa on loan for the remainder of the season.

He has since returned to Old Trafford but is currently training away from the main group.

Rashford wants FC Barcelona

The England international has been linked to numerous clubs as he has no future at Old Trafford under Amorim.

Rashford has made his preferred move clear to all-suitors and has publicly prioritised a move to Barcelona.

He recently followed numerous Barcelona players on social media and it has been reported that United would be willing to accept a loan deal to get Rashford out of the team.

Nonetheless, Spanish paper AS claim that United have already named their price for the winger.

The outlet claims that “Marcus Rashford is worth €48 million. That’s the price Manchester United set for his transfer a few months ago, and the one they’re sticking to these days.”

Barca had originally preferred to do a deal for Nico Williams and Luis Diaz but the club “is beginning to look favourably on the Rashford option.”

This is due to numerous factors such as the deal is much easier to complete owing to the player’s desire to move to the Camp Nou.

His signing is also cheaper and as a result, much simpler than Diaz’s from Liverpool.

Rashford splits opinion

Interestingly, “Rashford isn’t Deco’s favourite, but Barça’s sporting director is increasingly left with fewer options after the collapse of the Nico Williams transfer and the difficulties surrounding the Luis Díaz deal, combined with Barça’s financial constraints.”

Manager Hansi Flick is said to be much more positive than Deco and has given his “green light” to the deal.

United fans will be keen for some movement as despite much talk in the media, no United players have left the club. As a result, the club’s transfer business has ground to a halt in a summer where they can ill afford much more delay.

Alex is a huge Manchester United fan, inspired by greats of his homeland such as George Best, Harry Gregg and Norman Whiteside. Proud owner of such niche shirts such as Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Gary Neville. Grew up pretending to be Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the back garden, with little success.
