Dogged PL rivals planning knockout blow to United’s summer plans that would crush Amorim – report

Tottenham Hotspur continue to create problems for Manchester United in the race for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

Spurs, who recently appointed former Bees boss Thomas Frank, were keen to reunite the Danish manager with his protege Mbeumo.

But the Cameroonian made it pretty clear that he only has eyes on a move to Old Trafford this summer, and thus the North London club’s chances of a hijack failed to take off.

They have now shifted their attention to Brentford’s other star forward Yoane Wissa, with the London side only willing to entertain a deal for £50 million.

Spurs interested in Wissa

Now here is the kicker: Brentford do not want to sell both their star forwards in the same window, and are looking at selling only one.

In other words, whoever agrees a deal first could potentially block the other team from securing their chosen forward, as per The Standard.

Spurs are weighing up a move for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa. Move driven by Thomas Frank. Wissa is keen on a move.

“Tottenham have been told they must pay at least £50 million to sign Brentford forward Yoane Wissa. They are now mulling over whether Wissa is worth that valuation, with the DR Congo forward turning 29 in September.

“Were Spurs, who last month appointed former Brentford head coach Thomas Frank, to renew their interest in Wissa it could potentially derail Manchester United’s pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo.

“United are weighing up a third bid for Mbeumo, with Brentford adamant that they want more than the £62.5m Ruben Amorim’s side paid for Matheus Cunha earlier this summer.

United’s Bryan Mbeumo deal in danger

“However, Brentford are reluctant to lose both Wissa and Mbeumo this summer, United could end up missing out on their man if Spurs meet Brentford’s valuation for Wissa.”

United are reportedly optimistic of agreeing a deal for Mbeumo before their pre-season tour of the United States kicks off. They have so far seen two bids get rejected, with the Bees now wanting £65 million.

The good news for United is that Spurs have reached an agreement with West Ham United to sign Mohammed Kudus, which might leave them with very little money for a move for Wissa.

Still, INEOS better act fast to ensure that a deal, that has been long in the making, does not escape their grasp so close to the finish line.
