“As things stand…”: Ineos pushing hard to meet Amorim’s Mbeumo deadline – report

It has not been smooth sailing for Manchester United in their plans to acquire Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, and as per latest reports, there could be a further delay.

As previously relayed by The Peoples Person, INEOS were readying their third and final bid for the Cameroonian, with the Bees demanding £65 million for their talisman.

Now, Givemesport have claimed that the co-owners were banking on closing the operation by Friday, so that the 25-year-old could join his new teammates for the start of pre-season training from Monday.

Which explains why a medical was scheduled for the weekend, as per previous reports.

But as things stand, that does not seem likely, which means the deal could drag on till the weekend, over the exact add-on figures and the upfront payment.

Bryan Mbeumo deadline

Talks between both clubs resumed last weekend, and the report has even claimed that should the London side reject their latest proposal, the Red Devils are prepared to walk away.

“GIVEMESPORT sources understand that discussions between the two clubs restarted on Sunday, with Man United preparing all the details of how far they can realistically go on the deal.

“GIVEMESPORT sources understand that the club had set an internal deadline of Friday for the deal to be done, so that the winger could join the club for the start of pre-season on Monday. However, as things stand, there is no agreement in place and that won’t happen.

“Updates over a deal have been slow because United really want to get the next offer right, and the belief is that if their next bid is rejected, they could walk away from the deal and move on to other targets.”

Could United walk away?

United had seen their initial bid of £45 million plus another £10 million worth of add-ons get rejected, while their second offer of £55 million plus another £7.5 million in add-ons was also turned down.

Brentford have been clear that they want to earn more than what Wolverhampton Wanderers got for Matheus Cunha, which was £62.5 million.

Brentford’s sporting director had even claimed that Bryan Mbeumo was open to staying should a satisfactory offer not arrive this summer.

But the Cameroon international has made it pretty clear to all interested parties that he only want a move to United, and that is what INEOS are banking on.
