Manchester United are preparing a considerable offer for Paris Saint-Germain midfield engine Fabian Ruiz, as per reports.
United continue to work on finding an agreement with Brentford for the signing of Bryan Mbeumo, with the Bees reluctant to part ways with their right winger, who emerged as one of the best attackers in the Premier League last season.
Mbeumo’s signing would somewhat be a statement of intent from Ineos, as the club’s hierarchy have convinced Mbeumo to join their attack despite interest from Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur. The trio of clubs will be competing in the Champions League next season.
A report in Spain now suggests United bosses are planning to make another ambitious move, this time trying to sign a Champions League-winning midfielder.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the Red Devils are interested in Ruiz.
Now, Spanish outlet Fichajes claim that United are preparing a €50 million (£43.2m) offer for the PSG star.
The 29-year-old enjoyed an incredible campaign in the French capital, establishing himself as one of Luis Enrique’s most important players.
Ruiz’s influence in the middle of the park helped the Ligue 1 giants outplay the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, and Inter Milan in Europe. The Spain international notched 11 assists in all competitions last term.
It is claimed that his profile has “caught the attention” of United, who are keen to sign a midfielder with excellent passing range and vision.
Ruben Amorim’s midfield is filled with workhorses but there’s a serious lack of technical prowess and composure. Ruiz has the ability to change that at Old Trafford.
United’s offer is understood to be “on the table” but it is going to be a tall task to convince the Spaniard to leave PSG’s stable project for a move to the Theatre of Dreams.
Further, it is believed that the French outfit are not open to parting ways with the Euro 2024 winner, who still has two years left to run on his contract at Parc des Princes.
