Picture: Electric 20-yo wonderkid sparks fan frenzy as he poses in United shirt amid transfer rumours

Olympique Lyonnais forward Malick Fofana has added fuel to speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United by sharing images of himself in a Red Devils jersey.

United’s top priority going into the summer transfer window was to add goals to the team, and they’ve partly achieved that by securing Matheus Cunha’s signing from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Currently, the club’s attention is on securing Bryan Mbeumo, following Brentford’s rejection of their most recent offer exceeding £60m.

But, United aren’t done yet, as they’re also on the hunt for a new striker.

More attacking reinforcements could follow, especially amidst uncertainty over the futures of Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho. All four players have been made available for transfer and are not believed to have a future under Ruben Amorim.

Should all four depart, United may need to bring in additional reinforcements to ensure Amorim isn’t left short of wide players or attacking midfielders for his preferred 3-4-2-1 system.

Earlier this month, a report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United had entered the race to sign Fofana from Lyon.

Fofana has emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents, impressing with his combination of speed, skill, and an eye for goal. He scored 11 goals across all competitions for Lyon last term.

United got a first-hand look at what the 20-year-old is capable of during the dramatic second leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie. Coming off the bench, Fofana caused the Red Devils all sorts of problems, even winning the penalty that gave Lyon the lead, although United rallied to secure victory and book their place in the semis.

The report stated that Chelsea and Liverpool are also admirers of Fofana, who is valued at €50m by Lyon.

News on that front has been quiet since then, but now, the attacker has sparked some fan frenzy with his latest social media activity.

On Sunday, Fofana shared photos of himself doing off-season training while wearing a United kit.

In the images, the Belgian is seen sporting the green United third kit from the 2022/23 season. The kit has Marcus Rashford’s name on the back.

It may ultimately not mean much, but given that he’s been linked with United, it does leave some room to wonder whether he’s dropping a subtle transfer hint.
