Tottenham “growing in confidence of striking a deal” for key United target after fresh round of talks – report

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly growing optimistic about their chances of beating Manchester United to the signing of Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo after fresh talks.

Semenyo is believed to be a name on United’s wishlist of attacking reinforcements, following a toothless 2024/25 campaign that saw the Red Devils finish in 15th place and with a -10 goal difference.

United have already completed the signing of Matheus Cunha, but the club’s ambitions don’t end there. Work is currently underway to get a deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo over the line, while interest in Semenyo also remains intact.

It has been mentioned that Ruben Amorim is a fan of Semenyo, who notched an impressive 13 goals and seven assists in 42 appearances across all competitions last term.

However, a more recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Tottenham have stepped up their pursuit of Semenyo.

Now, TEAMtalk reveal that Tottenham are “growing in confidence of striking a deal” for the Ghanaian after “holding further discussions” with his camp.

Tottenham’s recruitment are drawn to Semenyo’s “pace, versatility and goal-scoring instincts.” They view him as someone who “could add depth and flair” to their frontline while helping them compete on multiple fronts.

TEAMtalk add, “Semenyo’s agents have been in regular contact with Tottenham, who are now weighing up a formal approach.”

“Bournemouth, however, are unlikely to let their star man leave without a fight. It’s understood that the Cherries would demand a fee of at least £60m to consider parting ways with Semenyo, a figure that reflects his growing reputation and importance to the team.”

It’s understood Tottenham “remain in play” for Mbeumo and will be there to pounce should he change his mind about a switch to Old Trafford.

United remain in negotiations with Brentford to try and reach an agreement after their opening bid for the Cameroonian was turned down.
