Manchester United’s Premier League season has been a disaster but the Red Devils have the chance to end the campaign on a high by winning the Europa League.
Given the sheer number of injuries, Ruben Amorim has been forced to chop and change his playing XI almost every week, something that has not helped matters.
The only positive has been the involvement of academy stars with three making their first-team debuts under the Portuguese tactician.
Chido Obi, Harry Amass and Tyler Fredricson have all made their senior bows under the ex-Sporting CP boss while Toby Collyer had also made his debut this season, under former boss Erik ten Hag.
Plenty of academy involvement
United are second for minutes afforded to teenage stars and as per The Manchester Evening News, the coaching staff have already started thinking about the next batch of wonderkids who will be next to break through.
Discussions have taken place behind-the-scenes about which Carrington graduates will accompany the first team stars on the club’s pre-season tour with Darren Fletcher playing a key role in those discussions.
“Manchester United have begun conversations about which young players to bring on pre-season tour.
“The Manchester Evening News understands early talks have started about which academy prospects will be taken to the United States as Ruben Amorim prepares for his first full season in charge.
“Jason Wilcox (technical director), Darren Fletcher (first-team coach), Nick Cox (head of the academy), Travis Binnion (Under-21 manager) and Adam Lawrence (Under-18 manager) are in dialogue about which youngsters are working toward the first-team and will provide feedback to Amorim.”
Pre-season plan being matched
Not only pre-season, but the report also states that plenty of young talents will get a chance to impress Amorim during the post-season tour of Asia.
Given INEOS’ financial difficulties, there is a chance for plenty of Academy talents to stake their claim for a place in the first-team squad should they impress the head coach.
The likes of Jaydan Kamason, Godwill Kukonki, Jack Moorhouse, Jack Fletcher, Jayce Fitzgerald, Gabriele Biancheri, Bendito Mantato and James Scanlon are just a few who have regularly been part of first-team training this season.
It will be intriguing to see which youngsters receive the call to travel with the senior stars.
