“Bring the heat”: The 1958 announce historic move in latest round of protests against Glazers

Manchester United fan group the 1958 have launched their latest protest initiative.

Numerous groups of supporters have been dismayed by the direction the club owners have recently taken when it comes down to trying to drive down the club’s debt.

Ineos have announced unpopular methods like staff cuts and a hike in matchday tickets.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has claimed that the club is in such a financial mess that such drastic measures are a necessary evil but it is safe to say he still has much work to do to convince a lot of the fanbase.

It was recently reported that ticket prices will go up once again next month and The 1958 group have already held a mass protest before the match against Arsenal earlier in the month.

Two days ago, they announced a new round of protests to reflect fan anger.

“On the 29th March we will be at Broadhurst Park for the first event of its kind. A joint protest against Glazer ownership as part of FCUM ‘The United United’ day.”

It means United fans will join FC United of Manchester supporters to unite in the common aim of trying to remove the Glazer family from Manchester United.

The 1958 claim “we have stated our intent to unify our fractured fanbase across all key groups. This is not an easy task. It is clear that somebody has to put a line in the sand then step over it. We will take that step.”

They state that they have recently held productive meetings with fans of FC United of Manchester and they have agreed to work together moving forward.

Whilst admitting there was some history to overcome, they agreed to a Q&A session on Saturday 29th at Broadhurst Park.

The 1958 claim that they “will attempt to unify fan groups” and that they will “form a unity charter to outline actions and escalations against Glazer ownership.”

They finished the statement by asserting, “we encourage all United fans to join our unified protest which will be at the Stockton Town game. Bring your banners. Bring the heat. Bring the noise.”
