Former Manchester United academy player Omari Forson has struggled to make an impact since leaving the Red Devils this summer.
Forson, who joined the academy in 2019, made seven appearances for the first team last season.
The Englishman was famously chosen to start ahead of Amad and Antony in United’s 1-2 home defeat to Fulham last February by Erik ten Hag.
In spite of this, Forson did not sign a new contract and left the club on a free for Italian side Monza last summer.
The 20 year old, who has been compared to Bukayo Saka in the past, has only played seven matches for the Serie A side in a total of 340 minutes.
He has also failed to score a goal or register an assist during his time in Italy.
In fact, in Monza’s last ten league matches, he has not started any games and he has been called off the bench just twice for a spell of 23 minutes and 10 minutes.
Forson has only managed one start for the senior team, in a 3-1 win over Brescia in the second round of the Italian cup in September.
He has been more recently involved with the Monza U-20 team where last month he had two key passes and five successful dribble attempts in a 2-1 win over Cagliari U-20s.
Forson has barely had a look in for the first team since Alessandro Nesta was sacked at the end of December as Monza boss but his shock reappointment last week might just be the catalyst to kick off his career in Italy.
Speaking in the summer the Italian great labelled Forson, “a talented lad. Very shy but with big potential.”
He also praised his tactical versatility to play in numerous positions across the attacking third of the pitch.
Nonetheless, with the current lack of attacking depth at United, Forson may be kicking himself that he wasn’t more patient at Old Trafford as his move has demonstrated that the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.
