Former Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay is making waves in Italy for SSC Napoli.
The Scotland midfielder spent 20 years at United as he came through the youth ranks and made 255 appearances for his boyhood club.
He scored 10 goals last season including those in the quarter-final and semi-final of the FA Cup but he was still sold to Napoli in the summer without too many complaints from the United fanbase.
It is hard to believe that even McTominay would have predicted what has happened next.
The Scot has been a revelation in Italy and has been warmly received by the Napoli fans who have labelled him as “McTotally” due to his ability to be everywhere on the pitch.
The 28 year old has been a regular feature of Antonio Conte’s side as they sit one point clear at the top of Serie A.
He has played 26 matches in all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing four assists.
The Scotland midfielder was once again a key member of the team as he grabbed his side’s only goal in a 1-1 draw with Udinese at the weekend.
He had a total of five shots on goal and won all of his aerial and ground duels in the encounter.
Ironically, McTominay’s sixth Serie A strike means no Man United player has scored more this season, as Amad also has the same number of efforts in the Premier League.

It was reported that former boss Erik ten Hag did not want to sell the midfielder in the summer but Ineos took the final decision to raise funds for summer recruit Manuel Ugarte.
It is clear that the 28 year old has built up a legion of followers in Italy but he has no greater fan than his coach Conte.
Commenting last month, Conte claimed that, “the arrival of Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku, in particular, made a big difference to the switch to 4-3-3. We tried a couple of different formations before we settled on this one.”
Falcao Junior, who is the son of former Roma league winner Paulo Roberto Falcão, sang the praises of the United academy graduate recently.
He stated that, “there is a player in this league who drives me crazy and has been driving me crazy for a few years. He is Scottish and his name is Scott McTominay. He is a midfielder who can do everything. He is physical, good technically and gets into spaces, he scores too. A leader.”
While United lie in 13th place and with a paltry 28 goals scored in 24 league matches, there is no doubt numerous fans will be left wondering if the club jumped the gun selling the all-action midfielder in the summer, as he chases down a Serie A title.
