Exclusive: United star’s performances are so bad they have “fallen off the scale”, says former defensive great

Manchester United’s woeful league position this season has been largely down to the lack of attacking threat in Ruben Amorim’s side.

The Portuguese coach has failed to light the fire in United’s forward line since his arrival and the team have struggled to make chances, never mind finish them throughout the campaign.

Furthermore, with Marcus Rashford and Antony leaving Old Trafford in the January window, Amorim is now left with just four recognised attackers in his first team squad.

Two of those are Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, both exports from Serie A and both of whom are finding it hard to find any kind of consistency in the Premier League.

Former United defender Paul Parker spoke exclusively to The Peoples Person courtesy of Instant Casino regarding the state of the Italian league at present and questioned whether the levels in Italy lend themselves well to being able to perform at United.

Parker was quizzed on Scott McTominay’s form for high-flying Napoli in the division and the conversation quickly moved on to the difference in standards between two of the major leagues in Europe.

“Scott McTominay is playing in football league which we see a lot pf players come from and they struggle.

You look at Zirkzee, he came across as a super star from Bologna and you look at him and you’re not seeing anything. So do we question the standards of the Italian league or do we question the culture at Manchester United?” he pondered.

Parker also cited Hojlund as another example of a player who excited in Serie A but is now failing to make the desired impact at the Theatre of Dreams.

“We can maybe talk in a certain way about Hojlund as well. We look how he is, he’s fallen off the scale at this moment in time,” said Parker.

The Englishman concluded by stating he was “big fan of everything about Italian football” but no longer has the “same respect for British players” that now ply their trade in a league that has become subpar to what’s on offer in England.

Despite United spending north of £100 million on the two Serie A stars, neither of the duo look ready to carry the burden of leading the line at Old Trafford with Parker’s assessment being shared by the majority of the home faithful.

Amorim is no doubt in desperate need for additional fire power but has to get to the end of the season with his current options after his board failed to act in the January window.
