Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount is reportedly set to be out of action for several weeks as he undergoes recovery from a hamstring injury.
Mount, who has struggled to remain fit since he joined United in the summer of 2023 from Chelsea, sustained a fresh setback in the Manchester derby.
He was named in the starting XI by Ruben Amorim but could only manage 14 minutes of action before he fell to the turf and had to be replaced by Kobbie Mainoo.
Last week, the England international took to social media and revealed his devastation at suffering a new injury.
Meanwhile on Friday, ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Bournemouth, United head coach Ruben Amorim confirmed that Mount was facing a prolonged period on the sidelines.
Amorim said, “Several weeks. I don’t know the exact date, but it’s going to be for long.”
“And that’s it, it’s part of football and you continue.”
Now, according to an Old Trafford insider, @UtdMenace on X [via GIVEMESPORT], Mount is looking at about 10 weeks away from the action.
“Mason Mount, Hamstring injury due to hyperextended leg.”
“Tendon involved, horrible, around 10 weeks out depending on rehab and recovery!!”
This means that the earliest Mount can return is in March 2025.
Mount has played just 15.1% of available minutes in the Premier League last term, and he has played just about 15% of United’s league minutes this season.
On multiple occasions, Amorim has waxed lyrical about the England international, who is widely seen as a perfect fit for the 3-4-2-1 system.
Indeed, few, if any, players in the current United squad can match Mount’s tenacity, pressing ability, and relentless work rate off the ball.
