75% aerial battles won, 71% ground duels: United loanee proves to be rock at the back for League Two side

Manchester United loanee Rhys Bennett put in a solid display as his Fleetwood Town side drew 0-0 with AFC Wimbledon.

The 21 year old has enjoyed regular gametime lately and has played every game bar one in the month of February for The Cods.

Bennett was given a rating of 6.9 on Sofascore as he helped his side keep a clean sheet.

He played the entire 90 minutes but his evening did not get off to the best start when he was cautioned after just 15 minutes.

Bennett showed great maturity to navigate the rest of the evening without getting sent off and he did not make another foul in the remaining 75 minutes of play.

The centre back made four clearances and two tackles for his side.

He was impressive in his duels, winning five out of seven ground ones and three out of four aerial battles.

He had 41 touches of the ball and a passing accuracy of 70%, making 16 out of his 23 pass attempts. Bennett was also only able to connect with two out of his six long ball attempts.

The 2022 Youth Cup winner also almost broke the deadlock for his side.

A second-half free kick was whipped in and the big defender found himself free in the box, but he glanced his header just wide of the keeper’s right hand post.

The youngster has now played 20 matches for Fleetwood and is enjoying a much more successful loan spell than he had last year at Stockport County.

He will next be in action when The Fishermen travel to face Grimsby Town on Saturday afternoon.

Ethan Ennis was named on the bench for Doncaster Rovers as they beat Morecambe 1-0 but he did not see any minutes in the match.

The 20 year old will be hoping for more action when his side face Sonny Aljofree’s Accrington Stanley at the weekend.
