50-year-old Premier League boss emerges as ‘strong contender’ to replace Ten Hag if Dutchman is sacked: report

Man United could turn to Brentford boss, Thomas Frank, if they sack Erik ten Hag this summer.

Manchester United Football Club could be on the lookout for a new manager this summer. Erik ten Hag has hardly set the world alight, though he can point to injuries as a major issue this term.

Even if United win the FA Cup final, Ten Hag’s fate may already be decided. We’ll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.

One thing is for certain, the club are doing their homework behind the scenes and looking at potential options in the event that Ten Hag is given the boot.

According to The Telegraph, 50-year-old Premier League boss, Thomas Frank, has emerged as a ‘strong contender’ to replace Ten Hag, if he is sacked.

Frank has worked wonders with Brentford over the last few years, though there’s a feeling that he has reached his limit with The Bees.

The Dane has seen his stock rise over that period, with Frank getting the absolute maximum out of that Brentford squad.

His teams also love to play an attack-minded brand of football, which is exactly what the Old Trafford faithful want to be watching week-in-week-out.

It’s a tough situation for the United board. There are no real stand-out candidates in waiting at this point in time, so I can still envisage a situation where Ten Hag remains in the dugout. Frank is probably the most attractive option I’ve seen linked with the job so far, though, I do not fancy either Gareth Southgate or Graham Potter at all…

Do you think Thomas Frank would be a wise appointment? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
