Manchester United youngster Joe Hugill has been named the Premier League 2 player of the month.
Hugill, 19, beat competition from seven other nominees including three Manchester City players, to win the award.
The Manchester United prospect scored five goals in four matches for the under-21s in January.
Hugill’s form helped to propel United’s under-21s to a five-game winning streak, helping to make up for some disappointing results at the start of the season.

Hugill missed much of the first part of the season due to injury. He has six goals for the season from seven appearances, with five of those goals coming last month.
His January goals included a strike against Fulham, and a brace against Liverpool, a team he loves scoring against.
Across his academy career since joining Manchester United from Sunderland in 2020, Joe Hugill has netted 10 goals past Liverpool’s under-18s and under-21 side.
Hugill also netted a brace as the under-21s came from 2-0 down to beat West Ham 3-2 in mid-January.
The teenager has 39 goals for United’s academy in total, with 19 coming for the under-21s.
He has recently clinched a loan move to non-league Altrincham, along with defender Sonny Aljofree and midfielder Maxi Oyedele.
The conditions of the loan agreement still permit all three players to feature for United’s under-21 side, if it fits Altrincham’s calendar, or he is not part of their matchday squads, while they can also train at Carrington.
On Saturday, Altrincham face Bracknell in the FA Trophy, while United’s under-21s take on Everton. Wherever Hugill is, he will be keen to get onto the pitch and continue his scoring streak.
