Our predicted MUFC XI for the Carabao Cup home game vs Charlton Athletic is now in…

Manchester United made it into the fourth round of the FA Cup last time out. Here, the Red Devils take on Charlton Athletic, with a spot in the Carabao Cup semi-final at stake.

Make no mistake about it, this will not be an easy game by any stretch of the imagination. Charlton are here on merit, with the League One side having an excellent cup run.

Erik ten Hag will have to strike that fine balance of giving fringe players minutes, while also naming a side that should have more than enough quality to get this job done – and comfortably at that.

Anyway, after much deliberation, we’ve come up with out complete line-up for this game.

Check out our predicted MUFC XI for the Carabao Cup game vs Charlton in full here:

We’ve gone for Jack Butland in goal. We know it’s early, but this feels like the perfect opportunity to get some minutes in the tank for United’s new number two.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka should get another opportunity to play as the starting right-back position after some excellent individual form over the last few weeks. Tyrell Malacia will play in that left-back position. Harry Maguire should start here, with Lisandro Martinez making his first start since becoming a world champion.

Casemiro is the glue that holds this team together, so he was always going to play. He’ll partner his Brazil compatriot, Fred. We’ve gone for Zidane Iqbal slightly further afield, although it’s not his natural position.

Anthony Martial leads the line. He probably needs the minutes under his belt at this stage, while a goal would do his confidence the world of good. It’s a similar story for Antony in that right-wing role, with Alejandro Garnacho completing the line-up.
