Memphis Depay wants to rejoin Man United, according to the latest gossip.

Manchester United’s hands are somewhat tied during this January transfer window, with the Red Devils still up for sale, with the Glazer family looking to cash in.

After losing Cristiano Ronaldo last month, United have one glaring weakness; no strength in depth in the striker position.

I like Anthony Martial, though he cannot be relied upon to become a regular source of goals – particularly when you factor in his treatment table woes this season.

A loan move always felt like the only option for the club at this point. Vincent Aboubakar was linked with a Reds move, though more recently, Memphis Depay’s name has been mentioned (remember him?!).

The Dutchman struggled during his time in Manchester before leaving six years ago. He has since been pretty good for both Lyon and FC Barcelona.

Now, according to Sport, the 28-year-old star wants to rejoin United.

Depay has six months left on his current deal with Barca. Now, it’s written that the player himself wants a second crack at the whip at the Theatre of Dreams.

United will be limited to loan moves this month, though it remains to be seen whether Barca will want a big loan fee to let the Dutchman leave in this January transfer window.

Injuries have blighted Memphis’ 2022/23 season, though there’s a talented player in there. If he could stay fit, this could be an astute pice of business by United if they could somehow get it done.

I just worry that financially, United aren’t looking to spend right now. The Glazer’s don’t want to be here any longer, though bringing in Memphis could all-but guarantee our place inside the top four. Hopefully, the deal is deemed cheap enough…
