Manchester United’s interest has given Borussia Dortmund a new headache heading into the summer transfer window. Earlier this year, it was widely reported in Germany that Nico Schlotterbeck’s contract renewal at Dortmund was “nearly finalized”. However, Schlotterbeck has clarified that the negotiations with the Bundesliga outfit are far from advanced following the departure of sporting director Sebastian Kehl. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Dortmund think that this is just a pretext. The 26-year-old is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract at Westfalenstadion in the summer, leaving the club sweating over his future. It is understood that a new top club has entered the race for the Germany international, who would be available for €30-35 million (£26.1-30.5m) this summer if he continues to stall contract talks.
