25 goals, 11 assists: United enter red-hot race for one of Europe’s most wanted forwards in cut-price deal – report

Manchester United have reportedly made contact with LOSC Lille striker Jonathan David’s camp.

The Canadian forward has only a matter of weeks on his deal left at Lille and is set to leave the club as a free agent.

David has been in fantastic form this season, scoring 25 goals and providing 11 assists in all competitions.

United are in desperate need of assistance in the goalscoring department, having only found the net 38 times in 33 Premier League matches.

The Red Devils have recently been linked to forwards such as Victor Osimhen, Liam Delap and Benjamin Sesko but David’s name has also been mentioned in numerous reports.

Subsequently, TBR Football state that “Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United have all made contact with Jonathan David’s camp recently.”

“The striker has spoken with a number of clubs” including Premier League and Serie A giants.

Despite interest being there from most of England’s biggest clubs, including United, an offer has not materialised from any club.

As previously relayed by The Peoples Person, the website also reiterates that David’s preferred destination is FC Barcelona.

The forward has also claimed in a recent interview that he prefers La Liga to the Premier League. Nonetheless it must be stated that he also did mention that he would be open to a move to England this summer.

There have also been reports that despite David’s availability on a free transfer, Man United manager Ruben Amorim still has reservations about doing a deal for him.

It is believed that he is not the ideal profile of number nine that Amorim is looking for. He reportedly seeks a more physical presence upfront, like he had with Viktor Gyokeres during his successful spell at Sporting CP.
