One of Spain’s top sides are eyeing a possible move to sign Facundo Pellistri.
Manchester United’s start to the campaign has been pretty disastrous – both on and off the field. Signings were made, though more are needed as the club ownership issues remain up in the air. Factor in injuries galore and Erik ten Hag is having a tough time of things.
As a result of problems over on the right-hand side of the attack, Facundo Pellistri was finally given his chance. The man from Uruguay looked decent enough, though Antony is back now, meaning minutes may be hard to come by for the youngster.
Now, Pellistri’s future may be up in the air. It’s El Gol Digital with the claim, who state that the 21-year-old winger is being tracked by one of Spain’s top clubs, Villareal, ahead of a potential transfer.
Apparently, Villareal are keen on Pellistri due to the struggles of their talented winger, Yeremy Pino, with the club not wanting to risk stagnation due to poor production from that side of their attack.
Anyone who has watched Pellistri will know there’s still a rawness to his game. Villareal are confused if they think they’d be buying someone who is a ready-made product, able to come in and make a positive impact from day one. He’d need time and there would be peaks and troughs in terms of form.
Would United let him leave? Perhaps if the price is right. Pellistri was only starting games due to the absence of both Jadon Sancho and Antony. I honestly don’t see the man from Uruguay being granted that opportunity again, anytime soon.
He’s obviously a talented young man but Ten Hag has made no bones about the fact that the next generation will have to earn their chances, rather than being handed them on a plate.
