Manchester United signed off the Premier League season in perfect fashion. Match story The Red Devils beat Brighton and Hove Albion 3-0 in convincing fashion to finish third in the league. Goals from Patrick Dorgu, Bryan Mbeumo, and Bruno Fernandes were enough to seal the points. The game was also significant as Fernandes’ corner, which was headed in by Dorgu, allowed him to break the record of 21 assists in a Premier League season. Kobbie Mainoo Mainoo has had a terrific ending to the season and secured a new deal for himself earlier this month. He is also the only United player to be called up to the England World Cup squad, not including Marcus Rashford, who spent all season on loan at FC Barcelona. As usual, the Carrington product has been brilliant on the ball, but one thing he has massively improved on this season is his off-the-ball work, and he has really made a mark in the last ten games or so in this regard. Mainoo had one key pass in the match and also made 78% of his passing attempts in the centre of the park. He also had a total of two shots, with one effort being blocked by the Seagulls’ defence. The young midfielder was also able to dribble the ball forward three times out of five attempts. Mainoo impressively won 100% of his tackles and all of his aerial duels in the game. He was also combative in the centre of the park, winning eight ground duels in the match. Defensively, he also helped out with a clearance and by blocking one goal-bound effort. Mainoo will now head to the World Cup full of confidence and has secured himself as a key part of the United team moving into next season.
