100% successful dribbles, 6 duels won, 2 key passes: United starlet puts in all-action stormer for loan side

Numerous Manchester United players took part in their final game of the season for their loan clubs.

Dan Gore started for Rotherham United for the first time since the 1st of February in League One.

The young midfielder played 62 minutes and completed both his dribble attempts. He also made two key passes in his side’s 2-1 win over Peterborough United.

He disappointingly only completed seven passes but he was tenacious in the midfield battle, winning six ground duels.

There have been reports that Blackburn Rovers are looking to sign Gore and they will have surely been encouraged by his display this afternoon.

Rhys Bennett played 71 minutes for Fleetwood Town in their 0-1 defeat to Bradford City. The 21 year old made two clearances and blocked one shot.

The Youth Cup winning captain is usually a blood and thunder type defender but he strangely did not compete in any ground duels or aerial battles in the game.

He was also poor on the ball, only making 44% of his passes.

Sonny Aljofree has recently returned from injury and was once again back in the starting line-up for Accrington Stanley. Sadly, his side lost 0-1 at home to Chesterfield.

He played the entire 90 minutes, making four clearances and two interceptions during his time on the pitch.

The young Accrington defender won two ground and aerial duels and was solid on the ball, completing 19 of his 24 passing attempts.

United winger Ethan Williams got his first taste of action for Cheltenham Town since mid-April when he played the final half an hour of their 0-3 defeat to Bromley.

The 19 year old made one interception but did little else right as he endured a forgettable afternoon. He could only complete one pass during his time on the field and he was unsuccessful in his only dribble attempt.

Joe Hugill has also found gametime harder to come by this season and he came off the bench for the final 27 minutes of Carlisle United’s 2-2 draw with Salford City.

Once again, he frustratingly had little impact as he had no shots on goal and failed to win a ground or aerial battle. He was also only capable of completing two passes as he failed to connect with his teammates.

Ethan Ennis entered the fray for Doncaster Rovers in their 2-1 win over Notts County.

He only played 12 minutes and completed one pass but it will have been a fantastic experience for him to be on the pitch as his side clinched the League Two title.

Finally, James Nolan once again started at left back for Inverness Caledonian Thistle as they beat Montrose 2-0 away from home.

Now United’s youngsters will enjoy a well-earned summer break and return to Carrington in July, eagerly waiting to see who will be taken on the club’s tour of the United States. Nonetheless, the majority will likely once again go out on loan or even leave Old Trafford permanently in the coming months.

Alex is a huge Manchester United fan, inspired by greats of his homeland such as George Best, Harry Gregg and Norman Whiteside. Proud owner of such niche shirts such as Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Gary Neville. Grew up pretending to be Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the back garden, with little success.
