Manchester United star Luke Shaw has named one of the best players he played alongside and admitted that it was a “real honour” to share the pitch with him.
Luke Shaw is currently the longest-serving member of the Manchester United first-team squad and is still the first-choice left-back option at the Premier League club.
United manager Erik ten Hag has relied on Shaw as a senior figure in defence and deployed the 28-year-old as both a left-back and a centre-back at Old Trafford.
Shaw, who is under contract with United until 2027, has been reduced to 13 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils this season due to injury.
The England international suffered a muscle injury last August and was forced to the sideline before Shaw made his triumphant return for United three months later.
Shaw has opened up about his time as a footballer, both for England and at club level, and was quizzed on one of the best players he played alongside in his career.

Shaw talks up Man Utd legend
Speaking on Sky Sports, Manchester United defender Luke Shaw was asked which player he would trust to take a penalty kick if his life depended on it.
Shaw picked four players and named the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Kane, with the latter being his England teammate.
When Shaw was pressed to pick one, the Three Lions star revealed that his top choice would be none other than club legend Ronaldo.
“Yeah, I think Ronaldo [to take the penalty],” he said.
The United left-back was then asked if Al Nassr star Ronaldo is one of the best players he shared the pitch with and Shaw did not hesitate with his response.
“Yeah, 100 per cent. I think his record speaks for itself, really,” Shaw continued.
“What he’s done over football in the last 15 years is incredible.
“One of the best players to ever play football, I think, and for me, it was a real honour to be able to experience first-hand to play with him to see how he lives his life to see what he does to stay at that top level.
“It was an unbelievable feeling to see him day in, day out and see what he does to really reach that top level and, for me, it was so clear to see why he reached that top level for so many years because he was so professional and every day he did everything 100 per cent.
“It was incredible to see […].”
Shaw sets out Man Utd’s targets this season
Shaw, who tipped one of his teammates to become one of the best, claimed that United need to push for a top-four Premier League finish and win the FA Cup this season.
“We have a really good group here and a good manager, so we need to focus on what our ambitions are and what we want to achieve, which is winning the FA Cup and qualifying for the Champions League,” he said.
“Obviously, at the start of the season, that wasn’t our ambition, we wanted to win everything, but at this point right now, we’ve got to be realistic about where we’re at.
“For us now, a club like this must be in the Champions League and we’re still in the FA Cup.
“These two should be our aim. We lost in the final of the FA Cup last season and that’s even more inspiration.”
