1 key pass, 100% dribble attempts, 100% aerial duels: United loanee cruises once more in League One

Manchester United had a quiet Saturday afternoon of loanee action due to the ongoing international break.

Nonetheless, there were still two academy products in action, coincidentally against one another as Rotherham United beat Northampton Town 1-2.

Dan Gore

The United midfielder has been plagued with injury over the last two seasons, but thankfully he seems back to full health this season.

He has been a regular in the Rotherham team, having played 10 matches in League One this season.

Gore played the entire 90 minutes of the match against Northampton and did not disappoint in the middle of the park.

The 20 year old made one key pass and completed 82% of his passes on the afternoon.

He was proactive, making the majority of his passes in the opposition box with a completion rate of 81%.

Gore completed 100% of his aerial duels and also 100% of his dribble attempts against Northampton.

The youngster also won three ground contests and made one clearance as his side saw out the victory.

He will likely next be in action when Rotherham host Jack Moorhouse’s Leyton Orient next weekend.

Ethan Wheatley

While Gore has impressed on loan, Wheatley has found it much harder to make an impact.

He started on the bench but came on after just 21 minutes due to an injury for his side.

Wheatley failed to have a shot of any kind and also did not attempt any dribbles.

The 19 year old was also only able to complete five passes during the entire time he was on the pitch in a rather isolated showing.

He had rather contrasting fortunes in his duels however, as he won all four ground battles but lost all six aerial contests.

Wheatley will have another chance to try and make more of an impact when Northampton travel to Doncaster Rovers next Saturday.
